Gerry Gaetz

Gerry Gaetz is Managing Partner of North Galt, a leading advisory firm specializing in payment system infrastructures. He serves on the Board of Currency Research, a global research and conferencing organization, and on the Advisory Board of Central Bank Payment News, an international journal on central banking. He is also an Executive Advisor with Canadian Bank Note Company.

Gerry’s career spans leadership roles across payments, central banking, and financial technology. He is the former President and CEO of Payments Canada, where he transformed governance and board structures, strengthened leadership and culture, and launched an ambitious strategy to modernize Canada’s national payment system. Prior to that, he held multiple executive roles at the Bank of Canada, overseeing Banking Operations, Corporate Services, and Currency.

He has also advised and served on boards in the private sector, including as Board Chair of Clik2pay, Executive Advisor with MindBridge AI, Director of Fortress Global Enterprises, and Director of Landqart AG, a Swiss banknote security company. Internationally, Gerry was a member of the International Council of Payment Association Chief Executives, a founding member of P7 (a network of Asia-Pacific payment organizations), and Chair of the 32-country Central Bank Counterfeit Deterrence Group. He also served on a London-based international business ethics accreditation council (BNEI).

Gerry’s work extends beyond payments and governance. He co-led the flagship executive leadership program at the Gestalt International Study Center in Massachusetts, reflecting his passion for enabling large-scale organizational change and advancing personal leadership growth.
